Do you love to sing? Do you want to make a difference through music? You can be part of Stamford’s multifaith/multi-cultural community choir; an amazing group of people from diverse backgrounds and faiths who have come together in the name of love and unity. The New World Chorus, whose vision is “One World, One Voice, United in Love” performs throughout the year at many kinds of community events. We sing at various houses of worship celebrating and lifting the spirit with our music and lyrics. Among our many wonderful multifaith events are “Thanksgiving – A Time to be Grateful”, “World AIDS Day”, “Season of Miracles”, “Faces of Love”, “Pride & Joy” to name a few. We also perform at significant moments in time when an inspiring touch is needed in our community.
If you are looking for a way to get more involved, to express your heart in a meaningful, creative way, get to know our neighbors on a deeper level, it’s time to join the New World Chorus!
The Fall season begins on October 23rd, 2013. Rehearsals take place on most Thursday nights from 7:15pm – 9:15pm. To see the choir rehearsal schedule and to register, CLICK HERE.
Each year the wonderful congregation of Christ the Healer collects much needed underwear for those in need. Rev. Kate Heichler brings awareness to this important community effort by calling it “Undie Sunday”! The New World Chorus will sing during this special service. Fellowship and refreshments to follow. Please bring NEW and UNOPENED underwear for men and women to benefit Shelter for the Homeless and Women’s Housing at Inspirica in Stamford. Drop-offs are welcome as Christ the Healer will deliver.
The New World Chorus presents their Annual Thanksgiving event for the entire community called “A Time to Be Grateful”. This year we are thrilled to be hosted by The First United Methodist Church in Stamford and sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Southwestern, CT. This multifaith service event has become one of the most anticipated community experiences of the holiday season in Stamford. The service is powerfully designed to open our hearts with music and prayer as ONE community in this special season of gratitude.

The chorus will join together again with local singers to spread the spirit of the holidays. ”Street Angels” began in 1994 led by Diane Gunnip (of Stamford’s well known original band “Sister Sun”). We are honored to continue the tradition by bringing love and joy especially to those who need it most. As a Multifaith Choir, the New World Chorus will sing both Christmas and Chanukah songs as they roam around the town of Stamford. It is always a wonderful feeling to see the faces of children light up as we show up and sing by surprise!! Performances will include the Stamford Mall, the Ferguson Library, the Palace Theater and most importantly, the choir will visit several assisted living locations as well as shelters.
Happy Holidays 2014!!!
Please join our community for this beautiful and transformative spiritual experience as we welcome in the Shabbat with music, meditation and prayer. The “Shabbat Experience” takes us on a journey as we become present to the magnificence of creation and all we have contributed throughout the week.
This special “Kabbalat Shabbat” is created by Composer/Music Director Beth Styles who is joined by a combined choir of The New World Chorus and Temple Sinai voices. Dressed in all white, sitting on pillows and ottomans and surrounded by candlelit votives, the angelic voices of the community will lift you up and inspire all who are present. Three of Stamford’s synagogues will be joining together as one community with special guest leaders including Rabbi Jay TelRav, Rabbi Josh Hammerman, Rabbi Nicole Wilson-Spiro, Cantor Micah Morgovsky, Cantor Magda Fishman, Dr. Chela Belcher, Jason Terry and Jackie Tepper (Neshama Yoga). Guest musicians will include Leslie Costa and James Marcus.
The “Shabbat Experience” is set in the context of a traditional Friday evening Jewish Shabbat service – and ALL ARE WELCOME. People from all backgrounds and traditions are invited and encouraged to attend!
